Silver Ring, by Betsy and Iya

Last week, as part of my continuing effort to get unstuck, I bought myself a present. Not so much because I needed retail therapy, but because I need a superhero-cape-slash-thinking-cap.

When I was in university, I would write my papers (at the last minute, naturally) while wearing headphones. I didn’t actually listen to music, though; I’d just put the end of the cord in my pocket to keep it out of the way. It was simply the wearing of the headphones that was important.

The thinking cap is no myth, people.

I think of my new ring as part secret-decoder ring and part magical-powers ring, and as I write this it’s sitting on my finger, and isn’t it just awesome that I’m writing this with my new superhero ring on my finger?

Also, the ring was inexpensive and my favourite jewelry designer made it.

Do you have a thinking-cap-superhero-cape you wear when you’re really getting down to some serious work? Do tell.

I do! I like to sit at this specific table in the coffeeshop, with a specific Spotify playlist playing, at 10am, with my second cup of coffee. I know I CAN write other places, but this combination created over 50,000 words in about three months, so I’m pretty addicted to it.

oh, i don’t have a thinking cap or a superhero cape! clearly that is what’s causing my own stuckness on the book i’ve been writing. and now, after checking out the designer, i feel the need to buy ALL THE RINGS! can one have too many superhero capes?
