I met my husband because his mom is a leader in the field of developmental psycholinguistics, and back when I was 23 I was a grad student in the same field. The rest is a longer story I’ll tell you if you want to know it, but I bring it up tonight because we just had the giddy pleasure of seeing his mom on The National. A study she did is running in the new issue of Science this week (this is about the most important journal out there), and it’s getting a huge amount of press attention. I’m so excited for her, and for her lab and her colleagues and her students!

how very exciting for your MIL. i’m not all that sure what the study means, but being published in Science is a big coup. i wish i could read the full article.

That is awesome. :) I heard about the study yesterday (while in Montreal which made it nicer) and was excited by it … once upon a time i assisted in some research somewhat similar (but really not.. just linguistics)… I miss it.
