Hello, New Android Phone by Kim Werker | Sep 18, 2015 | Blather | 4 comments I decided to do it. Earlier this week, I ditched my iPhone for an LG 4G Android phone. I’ve got all my most-used apps loaded up already, but I’m always game to learn about others. So tell me, Android users, what are your favourite apps and tips? I’m pretty minimal with the phone app usage – but I love the Goodreads app, Pixlr photo app & the game Alphabear. As for tips – turn on Power saving mode & turn off notifications for apps like Twitter & FB & Instagram, etc. … to save battery power & sanity (just go to the app when you have time to check your updates). Reply Kim Werker on September 19, 2015 at 8:25 am Thanks! I’ll check those out! I’ve got battery saving turned on, and notifications kept to a minimum already. :) Reply Daisy on September 24, 2015 at 5:03 am My favorites are Pocket Casts for podcasts, Mantano Reader for PDFs/ebooks, Poweramp for music, and Jota Text Editor for text files. ES File Explorer for managing/moving/renaming files. (ES also has a task killer they tell you about the first time you open it, but task killers are useless at best for Android since it manages memory well on its own.) Also Blendoku — it’s a game where you arrange colored tiles in gradient order, which sounds boring as hell the way I’m describing it but it’s completely addictive. (I tell myself that I’m not wasting time — I’m sharpening my color discrimination skills.) Reply Kim Werker on September 30, 2015 at 10:39 am Thank you! Holy smokes, Blendoku is amazing.
