You guys, I know how to sew!
Something major happened in the last few months, you guys. Somehow, without lifting a finger, all the blog posts and articles I’ve read about sewing crossed into the atmosphere of my brain. The other night, I got it into my head to make Owen a little bag. To my surprise, he was totally into it. He picked the fabric from my small stash, brought each piece to me to iron, took the warm pieces back and laid them “flat” on the couch, and didn’t seem to mind that it took me quite a long time to then measure and cut them. Following this tutorial, but for much smaller...

And I loved every stitch of it (see the project details on Ravelry). I’m going to gush now. Brace yourself. I love the yarn (Madeline Tosh tosh merino, in Logwood). I love how the yarn loved my Addi Turbos. I love the fabric. I love how simple the pattern is. And I love that I’m so flippin’ consistent in my colour preferences that I had a similarly coloured (Tosh, no less!) yarn going...

Yesterday afternoon, after several late nights of feverish crocheting, I finally finished the Land and Sea blanket. Have I mentioned I’ve met the baby I made the blanket for? Fall means knitting and crocheting, people. Seriously. Greg’s started going to a class one or two evenings a week, which is like added crafting magic. I put the baby to bed, eat something, then watch all sorts of vaguely uninteresting television and knit. Which means I’m actually making progress. And that’s a very good thing, because there’s a wee fetus out there who will need some handknits for his arrival in a few months. I didn’t have enough notice to make newborn stuff for Owen, but this cousin-to-be of his, oh, he’ll have handknits. Starting with a...

I finally made Owen some clothing. It was killing me not to have made him clothing. So now I won’t keel over! I blogged about the project over at CrochetMe.com, so I’ll just nudge you on over there.
