This last week has been all about looks around here. Or, I suppose it’s been more about a thoughtful attention to aesthetics. Yeah, that’s right.
First there was my birthday last week, with the most gorgeous, thoughtful present I’ve ever received. The man outdid himself. As we continue to decorate our front rooms after the renovation, this puppy will be given pride of place. And yes, of course we plan to use it. In fact, I have an entire decor vignette in my head; we’ll see if I can make it reality.
Then there was the taking of my very dark hair to a decidedly not dark colour. I did it because I could, and I didn’t think I’d like it. But I totally love it. So now to find some killer lipstick (not literally).
Finally, there’s this desk I bought to be my workspace in the house now that I’m using our detached garage more as a studio than an office (too much of my crap on the dining room table makes a certain man in the house justifiably cranky). I fell in love with it a couple of years ago, and now it’s my first-ever piece of wildly expensive furniture that I love more than anyone should love a piece of furniture. It’s the Nelson Swag Leg Desk, and is likely to be the only new-new furniture we’ll buy for the newly redone space. Now to figure out a chair and art, and get cracking on what we want to do with the rest of the room…
Pretty gutsy with your hair, but it does suit you rather well! I'm looking to collect typewriters too. Got my first brother a few weeks ago but it's not as old as yours. That is a really cool desk!

How about West Elm's scoop back desk chair? The lines are great and similar to the wood used in the desk. You can go with chocolate or white and it's inexpensive.
I'm an astigmatic expat writer, editor, speaker, author of crochet books, blogger, crafter and founder of the Mighty Ugly project.
I love talking people into indulging their creativity and I sometimes help authors and crafters promote their work online and have fun while they do it. I write here about creative business, crafts, books, pop culture and generally about ideas that force their way out of my brain. Wanna talk about stuff? Don't hold back.
1) beautiful typewriter
2) beautiful desk
3) beautiful you!

we have desk chairs at home that are made out of pinewood, pine seems to be a good wood for desk chairs~-`
