It’s an interesting premise, and one I was keen to explore. However, things don’t always turn out the way you want them to. My enjoyment of the vigorously paced story was undermined by a few things- there are a lot of voices trying to be heard in W.G, as the viewpoint shifts to various characters throughout the Prescription drug treatment in Oregon.

I've read them both. I enjoyed The Time Traveler's Wife, but not as much as
many people I've spoken to who adored it. I found History of Love to be a
total disappointment -- I found it flat and sentimental and had to struggle
to finish it. That said, I'm so glad you mentioned them in the context of
this discussion, because I wouldn't have considered them as part of this
genre, per se—and I have no idea why—so given my not-total-enjoyment of them
I'm definitely wondering if maybe it really is that the genre isn't for me.
:)

Thanks for the review! Can I make some suggestions? They're books I thought were "women's lit" (based on the library's display) but ended up being SO good and full of subtext!
-The Time Traveler's Wife - surprisingly not at all sci-fi genre stuff
-History of Love - with a name like that, I expected melodrama but got none of it!

Thanks for this review, Kim! Reading this, it seems to me that I might be a similar reader to you -- thus I don't have to bother with this book.
