I think you would want to hear that "I'm an excellent pattern writer" and "I have all my patterns tech-edited before they come to you" and "I generate all my own schematics". When in truth, every time I design a pattern, the process goes differently. Sometimes it has percolated for a long time and allowed me to test and re-test the pattern before I even submit it. Other times, the pattern comes to me like a tidal wave and I "make it up as I go". Either way, I believe in following my energy. If I feel inspired to go a direction, I go there, then later I decide if it is worthy of submission. If it's not worthy of submission, then I'll have 'gotten it out of my system' and I'll be free to follow the next inspiration. :)
