My solution was to bite them, which worked especially well when I was nervous. I helped with the Coats Learn to Knit/Crochet CDs as the person who oversaw what the hands were doing behind the camera and knew that my hands would never stand up to that close a scrutiny. I also never liked the feel of polish on my nails-it weighted them down. This is a lot of words just to say your hands look great. They do! I played violin as a child and had to have short nails.
