I played violin as a child and had to have short nails. My solution was to bite them, which worked especially well when I was nervous. I helped with the Coats Learn to Knit/Crochet CDs as the person who oversaw what the hands were doing behind the camera and knew that my hands would never stand up to that close a scrutiny. I also never liked the feel of polish on my nails-it weighted them down. This is a lot of words just to say your hands look great. They do!

The suspense is killing me... ;)

Have you seen the Elizabeth Zimmerman DVDs? (Or any of the contents in another contest). Manicure was definitely not on top of her list!

My problem is that I never want to sit still long enough to let them set. Usually if I get a manicure, I wind up wrecking one nail while it's drying. But beyond that they usually last quite a while for me.

Best. Topcoat. EVAR.

http://www.sallyhansen.com/product.cfm?product=109

It's not even marketed as a topcoat. It's supposed to stop peeling, or some such thing. Yeah, I have no idea. But if you use it as a basecoat and a topcoat (and add another coat every 3 days or so) you really can go a whole week. Even doing dishes.

Ah, I'm in love with our dishwasher. :) Taping lasts for five days, Monday-Friday. I'm figuring I'd have time for a mani that Sunday.

When I have to make a manicure last I don't do the dishes. this might be different if we had a dishwasher. The dishwater is always a danger zone for purdy nails. How many days does the taping last?

Thanks! I'm trying not to be timid with my hands. I'm surprised how well they've held up these last 36 hours. :)
