Anything by Octavia Butler because she was super cool.

Kelly Link’s short stories
/end Marikka’s recommendations
Nightfall co-authored by Issac Asimov (thanks, Cecily)

More Asimov: Nemesis, short stories: The Last Question and A Feeling of Power (thanks, Melissa)
Books and stories by: Larry Niven, Andre Norton, and Anne McCaffrey (thanks, Melissa)
Also, I just discovered that Orson Scott Card is a huge fan of Firefly, which endears me to him all the more. What a lovely geekfest this has been.Round-up of food-related books to come.

sounds quite nice! i have made this the summer of Anne McCaffrey and possible Larry Niven and Andre Norton. I’ve greatly enjoyed reading the comments on this thread and hope you enjoy my recommendations!
I’ve been on a New Yorker reading kick. So at least I’m reading something. But guilty mainly of relishing in Harry Potter books on my ipod. It’s the last Harry Potter summer and dammit I’m gonna wallow in it!
I think I’ll take a look into some of these books on the list. I’ve never read Ender’s Game, one of Rob’s faves…
I'm an astigmatic expat writer, editor, speaker, author of crochet books, blogger, crafter and founder of the Mighty Ugly project.
I love talking people into indulging their creativity and I sometimes help authors and crafters promote their work online and have fun while they do it. I write here about creative business, crafts, books, pop culture and generally about ideas that force their way out of my brain. Wanna talk about stuff? Don't hold back.
